Michael G. Thomas Jr., Ph.D., is an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) and a lecturer at the University of Georgia. His research focuses on financial empathy and self-compassion, data visualization’s effects on financial behavior, and the connection between brain function and money.
Wes and Dr. Thomas dive deep into the pivotal moments of his life that catalyzed his passion for teaching financial wisdom - from growing up in Gary, IN, losing his sister to domestic violence, to earning his Ph.D. and becoming an Accredited Financial Counselor. Michael has emerged as a trailblazing leader in promoting financial well-being and sustainable wealth creation for a more equitable future.
Dr. Thomas is also the founder of the virtual financial coaching service Modom Solutions and the author of the book Black Financial Culture: Building Wealth from the Inside Out.
