Did you know you were in sales? Not just to win new work, but to navigate your day. Everything from client meetings to internal hard talks is about selling your ideas and showing how you can help others solve their most painful problems.
- Success is about sales- convincing the other person that you can help them.
- Welcome and expect dissent. Be curious about why someone has the concerns they do.
- Disagreement is not rejection. It's doubt. Ferret out someone's real concerns and the big problems keeping them up at night and you will be able to win them over by addressing them
- "Because I said so," is not a reason for anyone to listen to you. It didn't work when your mother did it, and it won't work with clients or colleagues. Give reasons behind your logic and ask for feedback.
- Avoid polarizing the issues. You are not "right." The other person is not "wrong." You are here to solve their problem.
