Dodgers Superstar Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 homers and steal 50 bases in a season, homering three times and stealing two bags while also becoming the first player with three homers and two steals in a game, leading the LA Dodgers 20-4 pounding of the Marlins on Thursday in Miami.

Ohtani also doubled twice, had a career-best six hits and set a Dodgers record with 10 RBI. His 51 homers this season broke Shawn Green’s franchise record of 49, set in 2001. He was thrown out at third base on a double, or he would also have hit for the cycle.

The Japanese mega-star started the day two HR's and a steal shy of 50-50. He doubled to lead off the game, then stole third to get to 50. He stole his 51st in the 2nd inning. Shohei hit his 1st HR of the game (49) in the sixth off reliever George Soriano. He connected again in the 7th, #50, an opposite-field shot off Mike Baumann.

Ohtani was mobbed by the Dodgers in the same spot where he struck out star slugger- and former LA Angels teammate- Mike Trout for the final out of Japan’s win over the USA in last year's World Baseball Classic final.

Ohtani faced infielder Vidal Bruján in the ninth and hit his third homer — a 440-foot, three-run blast in a six-run ninth that capped off a three-game total of 37 runs scored for the NL-West leaders, who are now tied atop the NL and MLB standings with the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in baseball.

Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty allowed three runs and five hits over six innings. Flaherty (13-7) walked two and struck out five.

Miami Starter Edward Cabrera (4-8) was lifted after giving up back-to-back walks with the bases loaded.

The Marlins announced that Bruján (shoulder sprain) and OF Derek Hill (left shoulder impingement) have been reinstated from the injured list.
