About Babatunde Akinboboye: Nigerian American Baritone, Babatunde Akinboboye, also known as the HipHopera Guy, is recognized for combining his operatic training with his love of hip hop and trap beats to create a new genre of music that he refers to as HipHopera. As a professional opera singer, Babatunde has performed in many notable opera houses around the country, including the Los Angeles Opera, Opera San Jose, Opera Santa Barbara, Long Beach Opera, Opera St. Louis, and Utah Opera. An advocate for the performance of art song and operatic works written by African, and African American composers, Babatunde has headlined the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry awards in Lagos, Nigeria performing a fusion of opera and traditional African music and has been a featured performer at both the National Association of Negro Musicians Annual Conference, as well as the African American Art Song Alliance Conference.
