The disability community comprises of the world’s largest minority. Thanks to the efforts of Alice Wong, Gregg Beratan and Andrew Pulrang, the community has a political voice and base in this national election year with the social media campaign, #CriptheVote.

#CriptheVote is a nonpartisan campaign that was started on Twitter to both engage voters with disabilities and encourage politicians to have a national conversation about disability rights. Through the hashtag, Alice, Gregg and Andrew host Twitter chats on various issues that concern the community. In fact, some of these issues have made it to the national stage, including sub-minimum wage and gun violence (when blamed on mental illness).
You can learn more about the movement at Disability Visibility Project or at Disability Thinking. You can also get updates at their facebook page and definitely check out the Twitter hashtag to participate in the live conversation – or just see the conversation and the issues.
