It’s important to ask others before unloading on them if they have the capacity to hold you in this moment. This question acknowledges that as humans we don’t always have the capacity to support others. And it’s important to check in with yourself - if someone doesn’t check in with you first - to see if you have the capacity to show up for how someone is asking you to show up. When you are an emotional holder for others, you’re allowing them to energetically pour into your cup. It’s ok if your cup is too full.
