Michaela grew up in Massachusetts, and her medical journey has been anything but straightforward-- but despite these challenges, Michaela’s story is one of triumph over adversity.

In 2022, Michaela discovered a passion for firearms training—a pursuit that not only gave her a means of self-protection but also reignited her competitive spirit honed during her figure skating days. Through her dedication and practice, she attended her first Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit (ADSS), achieving incredible personal milestones, including finishing as High Lady and embracing the camaraderie of a community of adaptive athletes. Michaela trains diligently, focusing on both competitive shooting and defensive skills, viewing each day as an opportunity to grow and improve.

Beyond shooting, Michaela finds joy in her service dog, Tucker, and hopes to work towards more American Kennel Club titles with him. She also dabbles in other personal protection skills and adaptive sports, though her passion lies with firearms. With a vision of independence and inclusivity, Michaela is determined to continue breaking barriers and showing others what’s possible when resilience, support, and adaptive tools come together.
