The world often feels rigged. And this episode is a wake-up call to recognize the barriers that exist for those who don’t fit the traditional mold. In this episode, which is a kind of tribute to my dear departed Dad, I recount some powerful lessons from the man who was a brilliant psychiatrist and my biggest champion. He taught me that if something feels off about the environment you’re in, it probably is—and it’s absolutely hella-not your fault. We dare to break into the uncomfortable truth that many workplaces are designed for a very specific demographic, leaving neurodivergent individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum, feeling excluded. I share three stories in which my Dad imparted to me more than my fair share of his wisdom, and I'm hoping you to can feel empowered. You'll learn that we can advocate for ourselves and others to create a more inclusive work culture. Al (aka Revolting Santa Claus) has come into the studio today armed with many, many, many awkwards for us. We also pull back the curtain a bit and read some of your comments on our latest episodes… turns out, we’re VERY responsive to feedback. It really does help us out if you rate and follow the show on your podcast platforms - so we’d LOVE it if you could leave us a good review if you love the show! Five stars pretty pleeeeeeasseeee! And we also chat about Al’s recent experience of being turned into a deepfake - and what it tells us about the fragility of women’s reputations in comparison to men - particularly in light of Russell Brand’s recent rape and sexual assault charges. Whether you or someone you know lives with bipolar disorder or if you're simply curious to learn more - we hope you find this conversation helpful! Em was thirty minutes late to the studio today - she arrived looking fabulous and with a tale to tell… it was a hell of a 12 hours to be Em (or her hair). We also discuss mispronouncing words in a professional capacity and the true meaning of the phrase 'take heed'. Listener Vanessa emailed us about the first all female space flight - so we dive into the questions that it has raised about girl boss feminism, tokenism and billionaire vanity projects. When it comes to IVF - the narrative can often be to keep going and going, and going until you have a baby. Sometimes, however, the more sensible decision is to stop - and that is what was right for Anna Hart and her husband. Anna is content creator, interiors planner and digital strategist. After starting her IVF journey during lockdown, and after three unsuccessful rounds - they made the decision to stop. This is a side of the IVF conversation we don’t often hear about - Anna tells us about what she went through and how she has found happiness after coming out the other side of IVF without a baby. If you want to postiviely reframe the narrative of weight gain - this is the episode for you! Today, we’re speaking to the personal trainer, intuitive movement coach, content creator and podcaster Tally Rye. Tally shares her powerful journey of healing her relationship with her body image, food, and exercise. She opens up about moving away from the relentless pursuit of thinness and embracing a more compassionate, balanced approach to health and self-worth. We dive into the positives of weight gain, how it’s impacted Tally’s life for the better, and how she navigates conversations with people who don’t quite see it the same way. This conversation was recorded back in October 2024 as part of our body image series - so if you haven’t listened to that yet, head back and explore more insights from Tally and other incredible guests diving deep into all things body image. Mercury is in retrograde and we’re all feeling it… Em, Al and Xanthe are in the studio today - and we’re gonna be honest… it was a little hard for us to find goods for this week’s GBA. Al’s been getting violent at the dentist and Em’s household has been hit by the flu. We also dive into the conversations that have been opened up in the mainstream in the wake of the Netflix show Adolescence - which follows the story of a 13 year old boy who is arrested for the murder of a girl in his school. We discuss the rise of online misogyny, how it’s affecting young boys and what hope we have of stopping it. This conversation does discuss plot points from Adolescence - but if you haven’t seen it - the conversation mainly focuses on the issues the show brings up rather than the details of the plot. It won’t ruin the show, but you may get more from this conversation if you’ve seen at least the first two episodes of the series. Listen to Sam Browne’s spoken work piece ‘Silly Billy’ . Who here thinks they’re rubbish with money? We did, until we spoke to Alexia De Brogile. Alexia is the co-founder of YourJuno - the financial education app, by women, for women. In this episode, we find out how women’s attitudes to money are set from our childhood and how that lack of confidence follows us into adulthood - and stops us from growing our wealth… Alexia and her sister Margot created their platform to essentially be the Duolingo of financial education for women. They have helped thousands of women to learn about every aspect of personal finance. If you have any questions about personal finance - What’s investing? Is the stock market safe? And why do people feel so comfortable to do it publicly? Alex has been completely outnumbered in the studio today with her very controversial opinion about tea. We think stand-up comedy is possibly one of the most terrifying professions on the planet - and today, we’re speaking to a man who has mastered it. In this episode, we’re speaking to the multi-award-winning comedian, presenter, actor, author, and scriptwriter Russell Kane.
