#44. Cassandra Lane began writing the story of Mary McGee and Burt Bridges as part of her Masters in Fine Arts degree, but as her life changed, so did the meaning of this project in her life. She found that “even within pain and tragedy, there are lessons.”

Cassandra Lane is the winner of the Louise Meriwether First Book Prize, author of "We Are Bridges: A Memoir," and Editor-in-Chief of L.A. Parent Magazine. She previously worked as a newspaper staff reporter and received an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University LA.
