Now, full disclosure: I’m not usually a big Daytona fan and rarely wear them. But this one? It’s an exception, and here’s why. This watch is substantial—being crafted in platinum, it’s much heavier than standard stainless steel sports models like the 116500LN or 126500LN Daytona. In person, it’s simply striking, an absolute show-stopper worthy of its six-figure market price. The open case back on the 126506 is a feature that Rolex rarely gifts us, allowing a stunning view of the movement. And let’s talk about those sub-dials: there’s a subtle difference in the brown color on this model compared to previous versions, giving it a unique, elegant edge. The 116 had options for two dial styles, with or without baguette brown sub-dials. But on the 126506, the dials are consistent, offering either style with or without baguettes. Personally, I have a slight preference for the 116, but this piece has truly grown on me. This Daytona feels stealthy, classy, and elegant with its 40mm size and understated appearance—especially compared to, say, the bolder “John Mayer” Daytona. It doesn’t scream six figures, which I appreciate. Rolex’s decision to include the glass case back, sacrificing a bit of water resistance, was a bold move. Let’s be real: no one’s diving in this beauty. So, what do we think of this masterpiece? I’m rating it a 9.3 out of 10—one of the highest scores I’ve given, even topping the “White Panda” at an 8.
