Together, we're redefining what it means, looks and feels like, to be doing "woman's work" in the world today. With confidence and the occasional rant. From boardrooms to studios, kitchens to coding dens, we explore the multifaceted experiences of today's woman, confirming that the new definition of "woman's work" is whatever feels authentic, true, and right for you. We're shedding expectations, setting aside the "shoulds", giving our finger to the "supposed tos". We're torching the old playbook and writing our own rules. Who runs the world? You decide. The New Year is the “new” band (now 10 years old) from the main guys of Bedhead, one of my all-time favorite bands. Lucky for us, they don’t try that much new stuff with this new band.
Shearwater is the former side project (now main project) of former Okkervil River member Jonathan Meiburg. Each of their albums are good for their own reasons.
Phantom Planet was a band that featured Jason Schwartzman on drums for a while, as well as having a song featured as The O.C.’s theme song. They went on “indefinite hiatus” last year.
Twentieth episode! That calls for a celebration, so I had my good friend Fred provide the narrative to this week's feature. You may recognize Fred as the guy who says "Threevue.com" before every episode of the feature. I figured I would give him some time in the spotlight this week, since he takes time out of his busy day every week to say "Threevue.com" for us. And he's never late. John Vanderslice, former MK Ultra frontman, is an excellent singer/songwriter and one of the main inspirations for my own music.…
Portland, Oregon band The Thermals get our You Should Know treatment this week. They’ve released nothing but good albums since their inception in 2002.
Dear bands, If you make an album about dinosaurs, I give it an episode of our You Should Know feature. See: Gatsby’s American Dream’s In the Land of Lost Monsters.
San Fransisco band For Stars are this week’s focus, who are hard as hell to find on the internet thanks to two other bands, Stars and Planes Mistaken For Stars.
Although you may have heard me drop the “e-bomb” in earlier features, today we showcase a genuine emo band - Mineral - who released two classic and highly-influential albums in the late nineties.
This week we’ll be talking about the Washington-based band The Microphones, headed by Phil Elvrum, which has had several other band names (Mount Eerie, Phil Elvrum, etc). Their most well-known album, The Glow Pt. 2, was reissued last year.
Oh snap, we’re switching things up this week by showcase the Seattle ska-revival band Easy Big Fella, and their near-perfect third album, Eat at Joey’s. None of that mopey indie rock crap today!
This week’s installment features the San Fransisco alternative/indie rock band Creeper Lagoon, who released a criminally-overlooked debut album I Become Small and Go in 1998, which drew a lot of Pavement comparisons.
In celebration of the holidays, here’s a special edition of You Should Know featuring The Vandals‘ Christmas album, which came out in 1996.
