Discover the art of working with moon energy. This is a two-part series where thi episode will go over the first half of the moon cycle. In this episode Nikki shares with Rachael how she works with the moon from new moon up until full before the full moon.

  • There are 4 quarters of the moon cycle, or 8 phases. New Moon, Waxing crescent, first quarter, Gibbous moon, Full moon, gibbous moon/disseminating, third quarter, waning creasing/balsamic, and back to new moon. In this podcast we are going to cover the first half - New moon to Gibbous moon.
  • Moon cycle is 29.5 days, there are 13 lunar months in a year.
  • Working with moon energy at its highest is the day before, the day of, and the day after each phase starts.
  • Some great ways to incorporate aromatherapy into moon energy practice can include: scent bags, bath salts, mist to set an intention, clear energies, charge candles, anoint objects, salt ceremonies, fear releases, and any other tools you use.

Some go-to essential oils that we like to use can include oils that help foster clarity and creativity.

  • Clary sage
  • Lemon
  • Bergamot
  • Rosemary
  • Sweet orange
  • Myrrh
  • Peppermint
  • Black pepper
  • Coriander

New moon or Dark moon

The moon cannot be seen in the sky, we see her shadow side.

What do you want to bring into your life and space over the next month? Ask yourself the hard questions that you’ve been avoiding. Sort through what isn’t serving you. We want a clear path to be able to grow, planting new seeds. Time to think of what you want to manifest, see happen for yourself.

Salt ceremonies are great to put in your wishes/ goals and manifestations.

Waxing crescent

Energy is rising. We are starting to feel hopefully, positive energy growing with the growing moon. The intentions that you set in the new moon phase, now you’re in the creative phase. You want to make plans to achieve your wishes and goals that you made in the new moon, be specific, no room to be vague. Write down what you’re going to do, and what are the actionable steps you’re taking to reach your intentions.

First Quarter

We see half of the moon in this phase. We are now 7-10.5 days past the full moon.

This is the time for breakthroughs, making changes, and getting some ahah moments.

This can be a tipping point, for reaching a goal. The work needs to be done, it takes effort, and action to break through any limiting beliefs that may be holding us back. Double down on what you want. Speak up and don’t be afraid to voice to yourself and others what you need.

If you’re starting to doubt yourself, write out some affirmations to remind yourself you’re a badass and can do it!

Waxing Gibbous

An important part of going from one phase to the next.

This is often when people also want to give up, or think they can no longer do it. You may need to pivot or tweak a bit to refocus on where you’re doing but don’t tweak out of fear.

The plans that you made in the waxing phase, make sure you’re following through with them. This is a good time to get back into any routines that you may have stopped doing or l
