Self Control: Short term reward revisited

Life got busy and I looked up to see short term rewards becoming long-term burdens. How do I stop this? How do I recognize I need self-control? Better yet, hold myself self accountable to be intentional and stop or clean up that short term action so I can look further at what I want from life. My debt needs to be controlled and spending wained.. My eating needs curbing before I wreck the diet and weight loss from the beginning of the year. Can you relate?
