Dementia is likely only one factor in the support a care partner needs.
As a care partner, you must learn how to navigate your family situation healthily for everyone involved. A dementia diagnosis is often not the only factor at play in a family situation. Each family brings their unique experiences, roles, values, goals, and expectations of each other. Differing perspectives and opinions are natural and to be expected.
Being a care partner involves adapting to your current circumstances. Additionally, changing roles from what you're known before is to be expected. If you are the care partner for a parent, the dynamic between the two of you has changed from them being your caretaker when you were a child to you becoming their caretaker as an adult.
