Preparedness is the totality of physical and cognitive initiatives that permit the navigation of exogenous shocks.
Many have a narrow view of preparedness, the limited ideas of shelter in place, have a plan, be informed and have a kit. This episode discusses the idea that the current understanding of preparedness represents 20% of the concept. The next 80% of preparedness encompasses a whole of life perspective, the adoption of strategic thinking and planning, the value of community, mobility, opportunity and the realization that preparedness is the insulation that wraps and enables short to long term goals in personal, relationship and professional spheres.
Adopting a prepared life is grounded in having a shelter in place plan, but limiting your preparedness to kits, plans and information constrains your ability to rock an incredible life and chase your dreams.
