Artificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented pace—what does that mean for the future of technology, venture capital, business, and even our understanding of ourselves? Award-winning journalist and writer Anil Ananthaswamy joins us for our latest episode to discuss his latest book Why Machines Learn: The Elegant Math Behind Modern AI . Anil helps us explore the journey and many breakthroughs that have propelled machine learning from simple perceptrons to the sophisticated algorithms shaping today’s AI revolution, powering GPT and other models. The discussion aims to demystify some of the underlying mathematical concepts that power modern machine learning, to help everyone grasp this technology impacting our lives–even if your last math class was in high school. Anil walks us through the power of scaling laws, the shift from training to inference optimization, and the debate among AI’s pioneers about the road to AGI—should we be concerned, or are we still missing key pieces of the puzzle? The conversation also delves into AI’s philosophical implications—could understanding how machines learn help us better understand ourselves? And what challenges remain before AI systems can truly operate with agency? If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform. Come and run with me as I travel through out New England and a few other fun places!
Join me for another run outside of New England! Today I run with Ed, my colleague from JC Penney. We are in meetings in Plano, TX and boy is it HOT outside! The run was actually 99 degrees even though I mentioned it was 91 degrees! We run through a neighborhood across from the hotel and see how "the other half" lives! Nice houses, close together, and a Limo that's not even rented! If the quality seems better, it's my new improved HD camera! Thanks for watching! Comments at Itunes are appreciated and you can contact me at RunNewEngland@Gmail.com. John from the Poi.…
Another episode that takes us beyond the New England states, but to a beautiful place none the less. Join me as I show you Central Park in New York City! Central Park is beautiful, large, and a great place for runners and bikers. No matter what you've heard, the people are VERY friendly and so are the animals that call it home! We have a special appearance by a very famous person from NBC TV! Feedback is welcome at RunNewEngland@Gmail.com and I'd love for YOU to be the second person to leave me a review at Itunes! If you don't do it, no one will because you are my only other viewer! So, do it now (thanking you in advance!). You can follow me at Twitter.com/johnvaughn as well. Thanks for joining me for a beautiful run in Central Park!…

Greetings and welcome to episode 6 of Run New England with John from the Poi! I'm a bit out of order so ignore when I refer to this episode as #7. It was supposed to be, but I wanted to get this out to coordinate with the great 4 Feet Running Podcast! Yes, If you like 4 feet running with Nik and Dan, you'll love the next Run New Enlgand! I run the Mattapoisett 5 mile road race and Nik and Dan join again this year! The weather was beautiful and you get to see just how beautiful the Poi is... but wait, This is just the begining of the race! The next episode will show the actual race and a conversation with Nik and Dan where you actually get to see their face! Meet Dan's Mom Bernadette who will complete her very first race! I don't think there's a better course to do your first race... want to see?? Here's part one of the first ever 2 part episode of Run New England! Enjoy!…
Today we run The Race For Dave and ponder why it is 5.3 miles long. This race benefits a local Policeman who was in a car accident while on duty and is now a quadriplegic. Also, for the first time in the history of this podcast, we have race coverage from an actual race! Witness what happens when a fire breaks out and what happens when someone video tapes someone video taping! Finally stay tuned as we meet Mark and Jay Kruger from The Biggest Loser season 5! Learn More about Jay’s race at www.JBRace.com and about Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) at www.beckwith-wiedemannsyndrome.org Please share your comments with a review on ITUNES or drop me a note at RunNewEngland@Gmail.com . Greetings! Today I'm taking you on a tour, but not in New England! Sometimes I leave beautiful New England and head out to other cities and places. We go to a place full of history and beauty in an urban setting! Guess where I am! Please email me your comments and suggestions at RunNewEngland@Gmail Dot Com.…
After weeks of trying to edit this video on my PC and using several programs I finally got it done. Actually my youngest Son got a new Mac for college graduation and his birthday so I inherited his old Mac. Clearly the Mac's are better for video editing and even though it's about 4 years old it worked MUCH better than Movie Maker and my PC! And so I bring you episode 3 of Run New England! Today we talk about why I love running as suggested by Phil Moneypenny of Runcast.tv, a great website for running videos. The original intent was to post this in Feb during the Valentine season. If you look close you can even see Chris Russell's cape house in this video! It's near the end so stay tuned! Let me know what you think and where you'd like to see me run in New England! Contact me at RunNewEngland@Gmail.com and thank you for joining me on Run New England! John From the Poi…
Join me as I run in New Hampshire! I'm on the Vermont border and it is beautiful up there! Contact me at RunNewEngland@gmail.com and let me know what you think or if there's somewhere you want to see! Keep running and thanks for joining me!
Join John from the Poi as he runs through out New England! This first episode we run in CT and find some old stone walls and wonder what it was like for the first settlers. Contact me at Runnewengland@gmail.com and let me know what you think and places you would like to see!
