213 – How to Be Grateful in Every Situation
Manage episode 382488116 series 2793260
213 – Is it really possible to be grateful in every situation?
When things are going well in life, it is pretty easy to be grateful.
But maybe you’re going through a season of your life right now where things aren’t going so well. Things aren’t working out.
Or whatever it might be. Sometimes it’s pretty hard to find anything to be grateful for.
So, where ever you are on the spectrum of how much or how little you think you have to be grateful for, I want to encourage you to just take a step back and let’s revisit what it really means to be grateful.
There are so many things to be grateful for. Here are just a few of them. Be grateful...
- Just because God is good and loves you
- When good things happen
- When you receive something
- When God delivers you from the mistakes you've made
- When God delivers you from the harm other people have caused you
- When God heals you
- When you are in the middle of a problem, thank God in advance for helping you
- When you don't have enough, thank God for what you do have
Do you have a gratitude practice?
- It could be a gratitude journal
- Finding three things to be grateful for before you get out of bed in the morning
- Sharing with a spouse, partner, or friend what you're grateful for
- Writing letters thanking people for how they have blessed you
- So much more
If we're supposed to be grateful for everything, does that mean we should be grateful for problems? The answer can be yes!
Sometimes, a problem makes us stop and turn to God for answers to the real issues we’re facing, which we might not have done if everything seemed to be okay in our lives.
As Thanksgiving Day approaches, I encourage you to look through the lens of gratitude, to embrace a mindset of thankfulness, that sees every person and situation as an opportunity to be grateful in one way or another.
