Born and raised by the Jersey Shore, it has always been easy for me to take part in all of the summer boardwalk treats the shore has to offer. I was always "That Girl", grabbing snacks with friends and never worrying about what it was, what was in it, or how bad it was for me. I finally hit my heaviest weight in 2014 and knew something had to be done. Starting out with a basic gym membership, I had no idea what I was doing and would go straight to the cardio machines. Weights intimidated me and I was way too embarrassed to have a personal trainer. I went on with this for about 2 years until I was ready for an even bigger change.
I then joined a mixed martial arts gym chain and attended boxing and kickboxing classes between Jersey and Manhattan and began to lift weights with techniques the instructors had showed me. On top of it, I prioritized adding more activities to my daily routine such as going for long walks, taking the stairs, and going on hikes on the weekends.
After learning the fundamentals of training and exercising daily, I got more serious with eating healthy, too. I incorporated different diets and supplements until I got into a routine and found what works best for me. This turned out to be the IIFYM (If IT Fits Your Macros) Method. (More of this will be on my blog!)
Now in 2021, I sit comfortably at 40 pounds less than where I started and I am never going back! I stopped MMA and currently do NO cardio besides making sure I walk a minimum of 7,500+ steps daily and lift 6 days a week. I cook (mostly) my own meals and prep for the week to stay on track with my macros. I take supplements and vitamins that coincide with my goals. I continue to golf, hike, jog, and do anything to stay active and be the healthiest I can be. Recently, I began my journey in bodybuilding and when undergoing a prep, I become more precise with my training and nutrition, however during the off-season, I like to live life to the fullest! With this blog, I aspire to help those of you who want to take a step in the right direction to better your health and happiness just like I did!
...But, there's more to life than just working out and eating right! I have just completed my fourth year studying Advertising and Marketing Communications with a concentration in Economics at the Fashion Institute of Technology (hence my name, That "FIT" Chick). As a recent graduate of this amazing program, I was able to take my related coursework and prior experience to begin my career as the Marketing Manager for The Shoe Fairy - the leader in women's bodybuilding competition footwear and accessories. It truly couldn't be more fitting to what I'm passionate about! Additionally, I work with Studio 7 Salon to coordinate posts on their Instagram and Facebook pages and have helped to design their webpage, www.studio-7-salon.com.
I believe in hard work. Whether in the gym, holding myself accountable for what I eat, competing, when I was a student, or now in my first post-graduate job. I created this platform to have the ability to blog about my experiences with weight loss, tips and tricks I've learned along the way, and to document my love of fashion, bodybuilding, and marketing as a whole.
