One of the most frustrating things when budgeting is getting your plan for the month all set up and then an unexpected expense comes out of left field and throws the whole thing off. When we started budgeting years ago, this happened often. We weren’t sure how to handle it at first, but over time, we tested different things and eventually found something that worked well for us and we still do it to this day.
